18th April 2010 - Club TT heats up

Our annual club cycle time trial has resumed again this year with some very fast times being set for so early in the season.  We are doing a 10mile course at the moment and will introduce and 18mile course in a few weeks when the evenings get brighter with people having the option of either course on a night.  People are taking it very serious with aero helmets, fancy carbon bikes, deep rimmed race wheels and shaved legs!  After week 2 and with over 30 participants there have been records broken already.

Martin Kirwan is well ahead having posted 22.41mins for the 10miler, (which leaves him just 2 seconds short of the overall record set by Robin Kelly of Comeragh CC last year).  Davin Power has the 2nd fastest time of 23.38mins with Gavin Quinlan out on his new fancy bike to have the 3rd fastest time of 24.32mins.  In the ladies, Siobhán Kennedy has the fastest time of 30.56mins, already faster than her time of last year, with Caroline Russell next in 31.00mins and Anna Louise Muldoon posting 31.33mins.

Everyone was faster on the 2nd night so hopefully the trend will continue for the duration of the time trial to September.
